E’ chiaro. Allen Iverson vuole tornare a giocare nella NBA.
“Datemi solo un training camp,” ha detto. “Forse mi sono porto nella maniera sbagliata verso le persone dicendo ciò che ho detto nella mia vita e nella mia carriera. Ma se qualche team ha bisogno di me come aiuto per provare a vincere un titolo in qualche modo,io sto aspettando”.
Probabilmente avrà molto da aspettare. In un periodo nel quale tutti i proprietari delle squadre,così come gli investitori e gli sponsor,aspettano qualche parola più concreta da parte di una NBA vicina al lockout, pochi o nessuno ha tempo di ascoltare The Answer,che sarà probabilmente costretto a cercare nuovamente squadra all’estero. Poco meno di un anno fa A.I. firmò un biennale da $4 milioni con il Besiktas. Ma Iverson ha reso chiaro in una recente intervista telefonica (mercoledì notte) che la sua priorità è trovare posto su una panchina NBA.
“Anche se questo non dovesse accadere, io voglio solamente giocare a basket, quindi valuterò bene tutte le mie opzioni e sceglierò la migliore per me e la mia carriera” ha detto Allen. “Se anche non trovo una squadra NBA, non voglio smettere di giocare. Non ho davanti a me ancora tanti anni di gioco che mi permettono di aspettare una chiamata”
Iverson ha anche insistito nel dire che gli è piaciuta la sua esperienza in Turchia.
“E’ stata una delle migliori esperienze che io abbia mai fatto nella mia vita,” ha detto al telefono “Sono stati tutti grandi con me. Mi hanno accolto e sostenuto come mai avrei pensato.Tutto è stato grande come la paura di vivere un anno in un paese straniero .”
