Questo pezzo è dedicato a tutti coloro che nonostante siano circondati da difficoltà non smettono di sognare. Aggrappati al vostro Sogno risplendete come luci nell’oscurità.
L’Italia si sa è terra di “poeti, santi e… calciatori” e, soprattutto nello sport, il calcio come un gigantesco scarico, risucchia tutto: risorse, strutture, atleti e denaro. Per qualsiasi famiglia intenzionata a far intraprendere un’attività fisica al figlio, ma anche per un adolescente che decide di muoversi in autonomia, si pone subito La domanda: scelgo il calcio o il resto.
Questo è un assurdo e vi assicuro che, in Europa, succede praticamente solo in Italia.
Rifletteteci. E’ paradossale! E’ come se uno Stato decidesse di investire il 95% delle sue risorse in un campo, sia esso quello militare, quello sanitario o sulla ricerca spaziale. Va da se che un comportamento del genere, a lungo andare, condannerebbe gli altri aspetti del paese ad una sopravvivenza stentata o, addirittura alla fine.
Il basket, come tante altre realtà sportive italiane (cito solo il rugby, altro sport mosso da tanta genuina passione), vive in una situazione del genere praticamente da sempre. Basti guardare i notiziari sportivi delle principali reti televisive (rai e mediaset) dove si parla solo ed esclusivamente di calcio e di (pochi, elitari) sport motoristici. Basti pensare ai nostri giocatori NBA, alle manifestazioni che coinvolgono la nazionale di basket italiana, alle partite “storiche” (come le Finals tra Celtic e Lakers di quest’anno) tutte cose “lasciate fuori” dal sistema sportivo “che conta”. Basti riflettere sulla rissa tra Grecia e Serbia quest’estate: il giorno dopo la notizia era in cima ai giornali sportivi sopra citati, facendo passare al pubblico superficiale, l’immagine di uno sport giocato da “energumeni violenti e indisciplinati”.
Tutto questo si rispecchia quotidianamente nella vita di ogni appassionato di basket.
Partiamo dall’alto: il campionato italiano sta scivolando in un limbo di mediocrità spaventoso, figlio degli atleti migliori che scelgono altre destinazioni, di sponsor che preferiscono investire in altri settori (calcio?!) e di un “bacino d’utenza” sempre inferiore. Fateci caso, ma è la stessa situazione della ricerca: la tanto famosa “fuga dei cervelli” all’estero, dove i migliori scienziati e matematici decidono di investire su di loro in altri paesi, dove sono meglio riconosciuti e premiati.
E così, se girando nei playground delle grandi città, questa situazione comincia a manifestarsi, è ancora più evidente nelle piccole realtà di provincia, con playground deserti quasi sempre, poche società ancora in vita e troppo intente a “cannibalizzarsi” tra di loro con fusioni o “rubate di sponsor” piuttosto che organizzarsi per cercare di sopravvivere. Tutto questo spaventa i giovani atleti e le loro famiglie che così non hanno certezze per il futuro oltre a doversi sobbarcare le spese per lunghe trasferte dovute alla sempre maggior scarsità di società; e così, a volte, scelgono il calcio, per una maggior sicurezza, perchè è la scelta più facile.
La speranza del basket rimane in quelle storiche e valide società che proseguono il loro lavoro con passione e tenacia, rimane in quegli amici, a volte anche un po’ attempati, che si ritrovano la domenica mattina al ‘ground con la loro palla arancio tutta consumata, rimane in quei padri, in quegli atleti, in quegli allenatori attenti e premurosi che riescono a trasmettere ai loro figli, ai loro compagni e ai loro giocatori la Vera passione per questo sport che, alla fine, è quello che gli permette di sopravvivere. Voi siete luci nelle tenebre.
