Dò il benvenuto a tutti in questo spazio che avrà modo di parlare (e farvi parlare) di basket, dei suoi protagonisti ma anche di tutto quello che ci ruota attorno: così, come in un perfetto alley-oop servitoci dallo sport che amiamo, ci ritroveremo a parlare dei libri, film, campetti e leggende ad esso legati.
Ma perchè “Playground”?
Semplice, almeno per me. Il playground è stato il primo luogo dove mi sono sentito veramente a casa. Che fossi da solo sotto un cielo sereno di fine estate o con compagni ed avversari durante un tre contro tre autunnale, con chiunque mi trovassi e dovunque mi trovassi, se c’era un canestro e una palla non mi serviva altro. Sono luoghi magici i playground in cui puoi incontrare molta gente, tante passioni, infinite storie. A volte invece non incontri nessuno, ma se fai silenzio e smetti di fidarti ciecamente della vista, allora riuscirai a percepire suoni, ricordi e storie che quel limbo di asfalto deserto può trasmetterti.
E così vedrai padri che accompagnano figli a tirare a canestro, anche se il pallone è più grosso del figlio, ma che importa quando si è “malati di basket”;
Vedrai adolescenti incazzati che dopo cena verranno a tirare liberi o triple per riaversi di una partita o un allenamento giocato male; vedrai amici e sconosciuti sfidarsi in partitelle tiratissime, che neanche ai playoffs NBA. Quante cose può raccontarci un playground… ed è bello sapere che ogni luogo della terra con un canestro è, a modo suo, un piccolo ‘ground: dai famosi campetti americani come il Rucker Park e Venice Beach, ai canestri “di fortuna” che sorgono dalle sabbie africane;
Dai campetti semideserti sparsi nelle città europee bulimiche di calcio, ai piccoli canestri “fai da te” che ogni tanto si scorgono nei giardini delle villette. Ogni spazio della terra in cui vi sia un canestro è un luogo in cui non serve altro, un punto pronto ad accogliere lo spirito del gioco. In fondo, se ci pensate, la pallacanestro è probabilmente l’unico sport che si può giocare da soli. Negli altri sport, la necessità e il desiderio di un compagno, sono vitali, essenziali. Con il basket invece, basta un canestro e tanta passione, …e se poi arrivano altri innamorati della palla arancio, allora è una festa, un’incontro di passione, gioco e vitalità! Per me comunque, l’immagine più romantica, rimane quella di un poeta della strada, che al tramonto, si allena solitario in un ‘ground deserto. L’essenza del basket e poi tutta qui.
